Floatation Therapy

Also known as sensory deprivation, this is one of the most profound and holistic practices that one can experience for the body and mind.

Benefits may include:

Improved Sleep

Floating in the pod creates a deeply relaxed state, many floaters exit the pod feeling like they got a full night’s rest. Being in this relaxed state brings your body back into balance, improving your nightly sleep patterns. The amount of magnesium in the water from the epsom salt decreases levels of cortisol, the stress hormone that keeps you up at night.

Improved Mood

Improved outlook on life - Floating has been shown to improve mood by increasing feel-good endorphins, and decreasing stress hormones. Regular floating may help with symptoms of depression, PTSD, and anxiety.

Stress Relief

Most of us become too accustomed to operating through stress, with little time for relaxation. This creates an imbalance in our lives, and floating is a great way to experience instant stress relief, while lowering blood pressure and cortisol levels. Floating is one of the quickest, most effortless ways to experience relaxation.

Pain Relief

While you are floating, gravity affects the body less than normal, and this creates less pull on the muscles and joints, allowing them to deeply relax. The high amount of magnesium in the water from the epsom salt gets absorbed through the skin, and reduces inflammation and pain. The relaxation experienced while floating releases endorphins, temporarily quieting pain signals. Floating may help with symptoms of arthritis pain, fibromyalgia, tension headaches, chronic pain, and stress related auto-immune diseases. Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins, and help ease migraine headaches..

Enhanced Creativity- Many floaters use their time in the pod to seek out answers, refresh their mind, and work through blocks. When you let go while floating it makes you more receptive to fresh new ideas from new angles.

Meditation

Floating brings you into the present moment by stripping away external stimuli, making meditation effortless. The reduced sensory environment of the float pod increases theta brain waves, which are brain waves experienced right before falling asleep. They are also associated with deep states of meditation. Floating is one of the quickest ways to access these states. Athletic Enhancement- Floating assists in quicker recovery from training and overuse injuries due to increased circulation, muscle relaxation, and magnesium absorption. Many athletes use float therapy to enhance their performance.

The floatation tank is the easiest, most rapid, most foolproof and failure-free method of obtaining the beneficial mental and physical effects of the relaxation response yet discovered.

PTSD Relief

PTSD, short for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event. It resolves with time for some, and for others it may progress to a chronic state.

Many people have found floating to be a safe place to reprocess traumatizing memories, as well as mitigating anxiety and depression. Among other benefits, a floating practice allows people to develop a sort of “body memory” of calm and positivity, which they can carry into their daily life. For those having a hard time, this is a compelling reason to float.

FAQs

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope! Ear plugs, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hair dryer are all supplied. You will be required to shower before and after your float so feel free to bring anything else you might require like a contact case, comb, or personal items.

How should I prepare for my float?

We recommend not drinking any caffeine before your float, so you are able to relax. We also recommend not shaving the same day, it may sting freshly shaven skin. Ideally not too full or not too hungry. Feel free to come fresh faced, hair un-done, and ready to shower.

Can I wear contacts?

We recommend removing your contacts before your float, as they may become a distraction if they become dry or you get salt in your eyes.

Do I have to wear ear plugs?

We recommend wearing ear plugs during your float, it helps with added sound proofing, and prevents salt from entering your ear canal. You will still be able to hear the music with the ear plug in.

What if I just dyed my hair?

You will have to wait two weeks after permanently colouring your hair, and 60 days if its temporary hair dye. If your hair is not leaving any trace of colour on your towels, then it’s safe to float. We don’t recommend you float if you use keratin treatments for your hair as well.

Can I float while I’m Pregnant?

Yes, floating is great for relieving tensions while pregnant. We just ask you come after your first trimester and please consult with your physician prior to floating.

Who shouldn’t float?

If you have any heart, kidney, diabetes, epilepsy, inner ear conditions, or any other medical condition, we recommend getting a Physician’s approval before floating. Also, people can experience vertigo while floating when unwell. If you are prone to motion sickness, floating may cause similar feelings for you.

Do you have to close the tank or what if I’m claustrophobic?

You can keep the tank opened or closed during your float. The tank is large enough to sit up in and there is a light inside of the tank that you may turn on and off and music as well. Most people with claustrophobia consistently report no issues with floating. The Float pods are quite spacious.

Do I bring a swimsuit?

We don’t recommend you wear any type of swimsuits, but you may if you would prefer.

Are the Float pods sanitary?

The interior of the float tanks are extremely sanitary. The tank holds up to 1000 pounds of Epsom salt, which raises the salinity to levels that are inhospitable to bacteria, including microbes and other pathogens. The pods will have circulated and the water will have changed over 4- 5 times before the next person gets in. We use a UV light filtration and ozone systems to clean the water.

How often should I float?

Depending on your goals. Clients may choose to float as frequently as daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed. For general well being, we recommend a floating practice of at least twice a month. The more you float, the greater the benefit will be.
